It was another home run for the District Council’s Annual Charity Softball Tournament and Family Picnic this year. Teams sported their favorite locals on their jerseys and slid into bases for a series of friendly softball games between the nine locals, the Sisters in the Brotherhood, as well as two teams sponsored by signatory contractors, Component Assembly Systems and CNZ Contracting.
Everyone had a great time together, with a turnout of well over a thousand! Softball rivalries were pretty much the main event, but the food competition came in a close second. Leading up to the big day, good hearted ribbing of which local union would have the best food went on among members. Everyone agreed that there was no clear winner, although truth be told a lot of members praised the empanadas made by Local 157!
A big congrats to the members of Local 926, the new reigning softball tournament champions! Despite an intense round of games, the team emerged victorious. The runner-up was a team sponsored by Component Assembly Systems.
