EST Joe Geiger Christmas Message

12.23.2022 Luke Marino

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

One of the greatest gifts I have had in my life has been being a member of our great union. It has been an honor to serve our membership and although I am well into my tenure as your EST, I am still impressed with the dedication and skills I see from all of you every day. It’s been a few years since I worked in the field and during that time, I know that the expectations on-the-job have increased while the time to complete a project has decreased. That said, the structures you continue to build are world-class and built with union pride.

Whether you are an apprentice just starting out, a journeyperson well into your career, or even a member of the District Council staff, I am thankful for all your efforts over the last year. From building New York’s best buildings and infrastructure to securing union jobs to increasing turnout at community events, I am impressed with the lasting mark we are making in New York City and the surrounding areas.

With that said I’m confident this year has been busy for so many of us, both in our work duties, as well as our responsibilities to our families. As 2022 ends, I invite you all to take a minute, reflect on this year, and think of something that you did that makes you especially proud. Be it a new job you are working on, a new position in your local union, or even just another year of meaningful union work, I hope that everyone can find something to feel grateful for this year. Focus on the accomplishments of the previous year and recharge for the work opportunities coming in 2023 because there will be a lot.

On behalf of the entire New York City District Council of Carpenters I wish you all a I wish you a relaxing and well-deserved holiday season with your loved ones. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year!

Fraternally,

Joseph Geiger
