Fourth of July Message from EST Paul Capurso

07.03.2025 Luke Marino

Brothers and Sisters,

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, let’s take a moment to remember what this day is really about—freedom, hard work, and the backbone of this country: everyday working people, just like all of you in this union, who’ve built America from the ground up.

Back in 1776, it was working-class people—craftspeople, laborers, and tradespeople—who picked up tools and took a stand for independence. And here in 2025, that same grit and fight still lives strong on our job sites across the five boroughs, in our District Council, and in every one of our locals.

Union carpenters have always been part of that American story. We don’t just build buildings—we build the city, we protect our standards, we fight for a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work, and we’ve always got each other’s backs.

This is my first Independence Day as your Executive Secretary-Treasurer, and I couldn’t be prouder to stand with you. Enjoy the holiday, spend it with your families, and stay safe. The fight for the middle class is alive and well—because of your strength, your skill, and your solidarity.

In Solidarity,

Paul Capurso

Executive Secretary-Treasurer
