Happy Holidays from the NYCDCC

12.23.2020 L Boudreau

Season’s greetings Brothers and Sisters,

Over the course of the last year, one thing is for certain – unions matter. The NYC Carpenters Union matters. We mattered during the pandemic when our essential workers answered the call to build out health facilities to care for the sick. We mattered during the return to work when we sought to protect workers on jobsites with additional PPE. And we mattered at every job site, rally, and negotiation throughout the year. I wish that everyone knew what it it’s like to be Union Strong. In fact, the greatest gift I could ever give is for every nonunion construction worker who is risking their lives and their families lives at unsafe jobsites to know the gift of protection of the union, the gift of having brothers and sisters be their voice when they need it, and the gift of solidarity.

As 2020 draws to a close, let’s take this time to be with loved ones and to slow down for a second and reflect. This holiday season has new meaning for many of us and it will be celebrated a little differently this year. But, as we celebrate in our different ways, we can all be thankful for the gift of solidarity that gives us strength to move forward together – Union Strong – into a new year of work and possibilities.

I would like to personally thank each one of you for all the outstanding work throughout the year. On behalf of the entire District Council, I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.

Happy Holidays,

Joseph Geiger

Executive Secretary-Treasurer
