ABOUT OUR LOCALS
The NYC Carpenters Union is made up of nine local unions across all five NYC boroughs: four general carpentry locals and five specialty locals.
Our brothers and sisters who make up the local unions are highly skilled tradespeople who work on everything from concrete in high-rises to flooring to the installation of precision medical equipment and so much more. Every local provides their apprentices with the support and training they need to join the ranks of the most skilled workers in the city.
LOCAL 20
Staten Island Local
Local 20 is a NYC Carpenters Union local whose jurisdiction covers all of Staten Island, Governors Island and Liberty Island. From concrete form work, metal and wood framing, drywall, flooring, architectural woodwork, roofing and more, we provide journeyman carpenters and apprentices with the skills to get the job done.

Queens Local
The first apprentice mentoring program in the city was started by Local 45. The jurisdiction of Local 45 covers parts of Nassau County, everything south of the Southern State Parkway out to Rt. 135.

Manhattan Local
At over 8,000 members, NYC Carpenters Union Local 157 is the largest carpenters union local in the country. The jurisdiction of Local 157 covers parts of the Bronx and expands down through the southern tip of Manhattan.

LOCAL 2287
Floor Coverers
Local 2287 was officially chartered in 1941, but its roots date back to 1870 and the Carpet Upholsterers Benevolent Union. Local 2287 floor coverers install a wide variety of flooring materials, including carpet, resilient, wood, laminates, and sport surfaces.
