New York, NY – On Friday, August 26th the New York City District Council of Carpenters hosted its 7th annual charity golf tournament to raise funds for Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW). NYC Union Carpenters raised $350,000 for the organization, which builds and remodels universally accessible homes for injured or differently-abled U.S. veterans to live as independently as possible. The event was held at Crystal Springs Resort in New Jersey and received a great turnout of supporters from across the construction trades, as well as military veterans and sports figures.

The union’s partnership with JAH4WW is especially important as it has a large number of veterans in its membership and is committed to supporting returning service members both within its membership and throughout the country. The charity golf outing has become a staple event for the New York City District Council of Carpenters over the past 7 years. Since 2015, the District Council has supported U.S. veterans JAH4WW by donating close to $1.7 million.

“It is our privilege to continue to help support our country’s heroes and raise funds that will help returning veterans to build up their lives after sacrificing so much,” said Joseph Geiger, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City District Council of Carpenters. “Many of our very own members have served in the military throughout their career, so partnering with JAH4WW hits close to home for us and is an organization which we will continue to support for years to come.”

The NYC District Council is proud to help JAH4WW with what union carpenters do best: build sturdy, beautiful, lasting homes and facilities with their dedication to craftsmanship and safety standards

JAH4WW was formed in October of 2009 by Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen after he returned home from his USO trip to U.S. Military Bases in the Middle East. Jared was moved by the commitment, dedication, and sacrifices that our soldiers make every day to protect our freedom. He wanted to say thank you to every soldier in the only way that Jared knows how. By making a positive life-changing difference in the lives of those who need it most, JAH4WW helps make life for wounded vets just a little bit easier.
